Our Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend Mary Edith Douthit was born August 9, 1935 to Turner J. and Sallie B. Douthit in Lewisville, North Carolina. She was the youngest of nine children.
Mary attended Carver High School and retired from R J Reynolds after 32 1/2 years. She joined Galilee Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in 2009. Mary served with the Missionary and Senior Ministries and was consecrated to the Mother Board as a Mother of the church. Mary Edith was preceded in death by her six brothers, Alvis Douthit, Carl Douthit, Aaron Douthit, Russell Douthit, Donald Douthit and Roland Douthit: two sisters Madie Douthit Thompson and Ruby Douthit and five sister in laws. Mary leaves to celebrate her memories C. Wayne Douthit of Jacksonville Florida, Debora J. Douthit and Kelvin (Tammy) Douthit both of Winston -Salem N.C. Eight grand children, four great grandchildren . One sister in law Christine Douthit and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and nephews. A host of other family and friends among them special friends Mother Mae Oglesby and Carolyn Gray. A public viewing will be held Monday February 24, 2025, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 25, 2025, at 11:30 am from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
