Our loved one Ms. Mary Mae Willie W. Woods was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and a dear friend to many, Mary departed this life on Sunday morning June 6th, 2021, She was born on July 10th, 1941 to Susie Mae whitaker and William Bill Grays in Durham NC. She attended WSFCS and graduated from Atkins high school. She was preceded in death by her mother ( Susie Mae Whitaker ) sister Lillian, four brothers, Melvin, Kenny, Larry Whitaker and Zane Grays. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving father ( William bill Grays ) her son Willie Ashford 3rd (Charlene) and daughter Lauren "Angel" Ashford, a dear friend and X-husband Marshall Woods, along with a dear friend that was like a second daughter Rodicia 'Ro' Mitchell, Her brothers Robert Faison, William Whitaker Jr, Glenn and Brandon Grays, Sisters Sallie Whitaker Bailey and Rosalyn Grays. She is survived by six grandchildren, 3 greatgrands and a host of nieces and nephews and lifetime friends including Marcene Tudy Hairston, Annie Ruth Compton, Frances Mcham and Juanita Blackwell. Mary enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends, she was always willing to help anyone with anything, she loved talking on the phone for hours at a time especially to her daddy ( Gray ) whom she loved beyond measure. Mary will truly be missed but one day we will see her again. A public viewing will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 12PM from Douthit's. family will receive friends at 11:30am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
