Our beloved Michael Tery Smith departed this earthly life on Sunday afternoon, April 9,2023. Mike was born February 1,1957 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Etta Terry Smith and Parnel Witherspoon. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with one sister, Shirley Horton and four brothers, James, Wayne, Belvin, and Kemphas Smith.

Mike joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and loved his church. While at Galilee he served on the Nurses Board faithfully until his health began to decline. He was proud to be part of the ministry because he loved helping people.

Mike was a graduate of Aiken High School in Winston-Salem. He continued his education at Forsyth Tech Community College where he received his certification as an LPN. He worked in the Health Care Industry for many years.

Mike leaves behind two daughters: Shameka Wynne O'Neill and Yvette O'Neill of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He had four granddaughters; Kierra Burch, Nia Burch, Ricketta Simpson, and Destiny Simpson: one grandson, Elijah Davis of Winston-Salem; three brothers: Lester Smith, Artis (Emma)Smith of Winston-Salem, and Samuel Banger of Hopkins, Kentucky; special nieces: Carol Smith and Latoya Horne of Winston-Salem, and Davita Smith of South Carolina. Special friend, Minister Gladys Quarles. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held Sunday April 16, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Monday April 17,2023 at 12pm from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 11:30am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
