Mildred Calwell was born February 2, 1940, to Ama and Teddy Combs in West Viginia. She graduated from Gilford County Nursing program and became an LPN. She was in this profession most of her life. She had two brothers Rev. Teddy Combs Jr., (deceased) and James Combs (Phyliss) sister Mary Church. She was married to Robert Blankenship, and they had three children Teresa Kimbrough (Mike), Robin, White (Tim) and David Blankenship (Lacretia). She remarried to John Caldwell. They became business owners of an Industial Cleaning services and later a group living faculty in Jacksonville FL, upon John's death she lived out the rest of her life with her family in Winston-Salem. She is survived by her children, her brother and sister, her grandchildren Joseph Kimbrough (Julie), Shanta Kimbrough, Robert Blankenship (McKinsey), Paul White, Audrianna Wallen, Anthony Molleda, Savanna Blankenship, Shelby Blankenship, Shelby Blankenship. She was the greatest great-grandmother, aunt and cousin of many. Funeral services will be held Friday July 12, 2024, at 12pm from New Birth Worship Center and interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 11:30am. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
