Obituary

AI am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." Yes, says the Spirit, they rest from their labor.

Peacefully, early Thursday morning, August 31, 2023, the founding mother of the Ambassador Nation, Mother Dorothy Douglas Patterson, affectionately known as Ma Boo, entered eternal rest. She was born April 26, 1932, to the late, Willie Mae Douglas and George Douglas in Winston-Salem. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bishop Frederick David Patterson Sr., on March 23, 1957, and they became partners in ministry.

Who can find a virtuous woman? In 1970, Mother Patterson, a servant of God, along with her husband, founded Ambassadors for Christ Revivals Inc, with the headquarters church, Ambassador Cathedral, located in Winston-Salem, NC. As the first lady of the church, she served God faithfully in several capacities throughout the life and ministry of God's church. Her powerful voice was heard throughout the Triad every week as the radio announcer for the church's afternoon radio broadcast aired on WNAA Radio Station.

Her strong work ethic manifested itself as an employee of R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company #256. In her community service, she was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Meridian Chapter #308, and a proud member of the Ministers Wives and Widows of North Carolina. Mother Patterson was also the founder of the East Coast Pentecostal Women's Convention.

Mother Patterson was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; two brothers, George and Theodore Douglas; four children, Sammy Lee Allen, Cedric Allen, Margretta D. Patterson and Stephen Patterson; two grandsons, Stephen A. Patterson and Michael Allen.

She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, her children, Apostle Edward L. (Shirley) Allen, Malinda (John) Jowers, Dr. David L. (Sharon) Allen, Deborah Patterson, Frederick D. (Beverly) Patterson Jr., Elder Peculiar L. (Arthur) Sprinkle and Andrea Jeter; sister-in-law, Eleanor P. Barber; 24 grandchildren, 42 great grand-children; several great-great-grandchildren; a faithful niece, Vanessa Bratton; a host of other relatives and friends, the Ambassador Cathedral Church and the Ambassador Nation.

For 91 glorious years, her grace, Mother Dorothy D. Patterson's earthly contributions will forever be felt and used as a foundation and inspiration to all who were blessed to know and love her. She was a real influence and holds true that this life should be lived for God and that we should always pray to God, and we should never walk without Him. What a precious and wonderful gift we have had on this earth.
