Ms. Olivia Gainey Freeman, 76, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1946 to Jake and Carrie Gainey. Olivia went to Aikens High School.

She was a devoted employee of the Forsyth County System for over thirty years. She Loved spending time at the library and reading. She loved caring for her disabled brother Nathaniel Gainey and caring for others.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Darry Freeman; her parents Jake and Carrie Gainey; brothers Jessie and Jake (Jr.) Gainey; sister Catherine Gainey; niece Samaria Gainey; and nephews Travis Cutherson and Tyrez Gainey.

She is survived by her sister Carrie Drummond; brothers Horace and Nathaniel Gaincy; special nieces Sabrina Gainey, Joy Badger, and Talea Cowan; sister-in-laws, Caroyln, Nessie, and Bonnie Gainey; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:30am in the Ronnie Douthit Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am at the chapel prior to the service. A public viewing will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at the funeral home.
