Obituary

Sr. Pastor Alice Faye Mitchell was the youngest of five siblings born to the late Reverend John T. Miller, Sr., and Geneva Miller.

​A graduate of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, Sr. Pastor Mitchell received her degree in Business Administration from Phillips Business College and her certification in childcare from Forsyth Technical Community College.

Growing up, her father the late Reverend John T. Miller helped to shape the early years of her Christian Walk. Using the gift of music, she sang on the adult choir and worked with the children's choir at Beulah Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the "School of Prophets" of Ambassador Cathedral, Incorporation under the direction of the late Bishop F. D. Patterson. Sr. Pastor Mitchell would answer the call to the ministry in 1986.

In July 2000 Sr. Pastor Mitchell throughout North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia spreading the "good news" of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. From there, she worked with Pastor Deloise and Bishop Jack Nelson of Love Fellowship believing God for what was yet to come.

In 2004 along with Pastor Jacqueline Smith, she would obey the voice of her heavenly Father to start her own ministry, Life Changing Transformation Church Ministries. Devoted to God, her family, and the church, Sr. Pastor Mitchell was never too busy to talk to someone, to encourage someone, get that person the help that they needed.

She was the recipient of the "2016 Black Preacher of the Year" awarded by Greater Higher Ground Ministries Worldwide, Incorporated. In 2017, Senior Pastor Alice Mitchell was awarded the "Mother Magdalene Barnes Love Award" presented by the Holy Dove Christian Fellowship Pastoral Alliance in 2017.

Sr. Pastor Mitchell stood firm on the church affirmation that begins with Romans 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. And, be not conformed to the things of this world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God." Amen.

​Sr. Pastor Alice Mitchell is survived by her husband of 54 years Larry Mitchell; her brother, John T. (Sallie) Miller, Jr.; her sister, Avis (Pete) Sewell; her Uncle Harold Denny; Aunt Bettie Seymour and Aunt Katie Wilson; three children, Anthony Levon Miller, Alecia (Joseph) Campbell, Angell Lasett Mitchell; six grandchildren, Anthony Devon Brody, Alexis Miller, Jessica Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Kedrick Mitchell Ty'Anna (Ishawn) Reid; nine great-grandchildren and a host of cherished relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held Monday August 26, 2024 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 12pm from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 11:00am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
