Patricia Ann Phillips aka "Pat" departed this life September 11, 2023 at 9:53 PM at Forsyth Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit Room 8169.
Patricia was born to the late Walter Junior and Shirley Pace Phillips on January 21, 1957. She was proceeded in death by her father Walter Jr. in 2009 and her Brother Donald Walter 2022.
Patricia was born in Winston-Salem, NC. She lived in East Bend, Pfafftown and later moved to Atlanta Georgia. Patricia attended Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and Graduated from West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, N.C. "Class of 1976 Bicentennial Year"! During High School she was a well-known bus driver in the community, she worked for Lakeside Insurance Company, Arcadia Microfilm, and Pinebrook Assisted Living. While in Atlanta she worked for Ted Turner in the press box at Fulton County Stadium, and later graduated from Carolina Beauty College as a licensed Cosmetologist,
She was a member of Bethlehem A. M. E. Zion Church until her health began to fail. Patricia was a talker. She never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with people everywhere she went. She loved singing, and became a professional singer with the Inspirational Consolers performing at Carver High School shows hosted by Al Martin. In her later years, her favorite pass time was watching her grand children participate in their extra curricular activities; She was never far behind to watch them perform. Whether it was Band, Sports, Spelling Bees, Art Exhibits, Christmas Shows, or School Trips; you name it, she was there and their biggest cheerleader!
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved mother, Shirley Pace Phillips, her one and only Son, Lawrence Shamond (Maiya) Phillips, daughter Iasia Dewalt Grandchildren; Makyah Denice Scott, Monte' Garrett Scott, Leilah Irene Phillips, Lydia Ann Phillips, Siblings; Willie Harrison Phillips, Jacqueline D. Phillips. Sister in Law: Jerusha (Lelo) Josey and Georgette Donaway Nieces and Nephews; Margaret (Ricky) Robinson, Dre'Shawn H. Phillips, Jaaren C. Phillips, Jori C. Phillips, Bree Henry, Mala*Jae Dorrill. Great Nieces and Nephews; Ricky Robinson, Indyhia Robinson, Bryson Robinson, Tyler Robinson. Maternal Aunts: Elise Miller, Burlia Bailey, and Connie Thomas. Paternal Aunts And Uncles; Elizer (Aldine) Myers, Alice Porter, Clarence (Alice) Phillips, Paul (Shirley) Phillips, James (Mandy) Phillips, William Phillips, Gale Phillips and Long time Friend Ronald Douglass, (The Last of the Beloved Three the Hard Way, "Beverly T. Harrison.") and a host of cousins and friends. A public viewing will be held Monday September 18, 2023 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 12pm from Bethlehem A M E Zion Church and interment follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friend at 11:30 am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
