Trustee Richard Dean Walker transitioned on Saturday September5th 2020 at Novant Health Palliative Care with his wife by his side. He was a student at Anderson High School and Forsyth Technical College. He served in the US Marine Corp. He retired from RJR Archer Aluminum with 30years of service. At New Bethel Richard loved to sing with the Communion singers, the Mass choir and the Spiritual Choir. He served as a Trustee, Usher, the Senior Ministry the Layman League and the Benevolent committee. Richard was the type of person that never met a stranger. He loved to travel and he loved his family and his church family. Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents Willie Walker and Rosa Brown Walker; his grandmother Beatrice Jeffries; and several aunts and uncles .He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Elinor Kelly Walker ;his son Michael Kelly two granddaughters Tammicia Kelly and Bishara Kelly; five great grands, Haven Kelly, Xavier Watts, Harmoni Haskins, Makayla Caldwell and McKinley Harris. His loving sister, Barbara Walker Smith, a nephew Stephon Walker (Nina),a niece Tara Hovis, 2 great nephews, 2 great nieces, his mother in law, 2 sisters in law a brother in law and a host of cousins and hundreds of friends. A public viewing will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 2pm until 5pm at Douthit's. A private funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
