Roberta Waddell Whisonant was born to the late Mr. Williams and Ms. Hattie Waddell in Winston-Salem, NC on October 19, 1935.
She was educated in the local public schools and graduated from Atkins High School. She worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Forsyth Hospital and held other jobs throughout the years.
She begins her Christian faith at an early age and always spoke of the faith to everyone she met. She enjoyed playing the organ and singing wherever she could. She attended many churches in the city and planted her roots at New Beginnings Baptist Church where she was a member until she was not able to attend.
Roberta married Winford Homer Whisonant and from that union were four children. Winfred Jr., Jerry, Michael, and Brenda.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- John and Bobby Waddell. Two sisters Daisy M. El and Betty J. Jordon
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Whisonant of the city, two sons Winfred H Whisonant (Richardean) of the city, and Michael Whisonant (Sandy) of the city. Two sisters, Pauline W. Cole of Texas, and Earnestine W. Miller (Richard) of the city. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A devoted friend and neighbor Carolyn Jones, Sister Quince of SC, and Mr./Mrs. Leland of SC.
A Memeorial services will be held Saturday March 2, 2024, at 11:00 am from Douthit's. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
