Obituary

Rodney "Rod" Sylvester Cullins was called home on Saturday, January 28th, 2023. He passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. Rod was born on September 25th, 1974, in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Rod leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife; Comeka Cullins, three children; Malik Milledge, Zaire Cullins and Bobby Cannon. His Father Larry (Margaret) Cullins his Mother Peggy Cullins, and two Brothers: Corey Cullins and Michael (Kelly) Cullins, all of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He also leaves to cherish his grandmother, Elizabeth Brown of Madison North Carolina and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Not to be forgotten his three best friends, more like brothers, David "DJ" Simpson, Joseph Abbitt (Jerrene)and Kingg (Kisha)Fareed.
Rod was preceded in death by his Grandfather Roy Brown and an uncle, Tony Brown, both of Madison, North Carolina.
On May 2nd, 1996, Rod enlisted in the United States Army, and served his Country faithfully until his honorable discharge on May 19th, 1999. Rod was well known for his artistic talent, taking your thoughts and making them a reality. Rod enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing with a passion as well as spending time with his wife, when you saw one, you saw the other. Fashionably savvy, Rod always PTSO!!!!!!
Rod was a man of wisdom; you could always find him teaching life lessons to anyone he encountered and laying a strong foundation for his children to follow. A Devoted husband and father until the end, Rod always put his family's needs above his own.
It's been said that God chooses the best and, although Rod will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched here on earth, he left us with an abundance of memories to celebrate the great man he was. A public viewing will be held Friday February 3, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday February 4, 2023, at 11:.00 am from Douthit's. The family will receive friends at 10:30am. Interment will be held Wednesday February 8, 2023, in Salisbury National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
