Sharon Latrice Wilson was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Sharon was a renowned bread maker, chef, and gardener. Her wheat rolls would disappear as soon as she pulled them out of the oven and were requested throughout Winston-Salem and beyond. Sharon was also passionate about working with the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinder Club. She was a devoted Pathfinder leader for 30 years and working with young people brought her so much joy.
Sharon was generous almost to a fault, just like her beloved mother Earthy "Muh" Wilson. She poured her heart and soul into her many nieces and nephews. Their well-being was always her primary concern and she made numerous sacrifices to further their education and spiritual goals.
If she was not working in her garden or creating a new recipe in the kitchen, Sharon could usually be found hanging out, shopping, and laughing with one or more of her sisters. Sharon's six sisters were her best friends and confidants. They typically spoke, texted, or Face Timeddaily. Their bond was unbreakable and a lasting testimony to their parents' love and generosity.
After reaching the age of 71, Sharon began her final rest on July 27, 2022 full of faith and trust in Jesus.
Born on October 19, 1950 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Sharon was the daughter of the late Henry Wilson and Earthy "Muh" Bowers Wilson. Sharon graduated from Anderson High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science in 1975 from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. After leaving Oakwood, Sharon embarked on a career in social work. Helping others was her passion. She loved each of her clients at various group homes in California and North Carolina and treated them like family with love and care. She would create special meals for them, homemade bread, and was a stickler for managing all of their appointments. Sharon retired on June 30, 2022 after over 30 years at Group Homes of Forsyth County, most recently as Supervisor.
Sharon was a longtime honored and active member of Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church. Over the years she served as Pathfinder Director, Rose Committee Member, Sabbath School Assistant, Hospitality Committee Leader, usher, and choir member.
Sharon lived 71 years on this earth and each one was a blessing and gift to her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Earthy Wilson and her only brother, Ronald B. Wilson. Sharon is survived by her six sisters: Lillian Wilson (Loma Linda, CA), Debra Inegbenebor (Atlanta, GA), Gloria Wilson Taylor (of the city), Dr. Joetta (Melvin) Preston (Atlanta, GA), Karen Wright (of the city), and Teresa Penn (of the city).
Sharon's amazing legacy includes her 49 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She will be deeply missed by her devoted aunt and father's only sibling Bertha Wilson; her mother's beloved cousin Evelyn "Jackie" Funches, her first cousins and close friends Larry Wilson, Marion Wilson, Geraldine Garbutt, her lifelong cherished best friend Pam Banner (all of the city) as well as treasured friends, cousins, and family in the Winston-Salem, NC, Summerton, Elloree, and Santee, South Carolina communities.
