Silas Jarod Ross, Sr., 32 years old of Kernersville NC was
peacefully called home to join his heavenly father on Saturday August 8,
2020.
Silas was born April 28, 1988 to Carolyn Ross and Silas Foster in
Winston Salem, NC. Silas was preceded in death by his maternal
grandparents, Mamie Ross and James Beauford, aunts Brenda Ross,
Jackie Brayboy, and Antonia Watkins (who all helped raise him and
taught him the word of God), Luevon Washington and Anthionette
Torbit, uncles James Beauford and Charles Hall, Jr. Silas is survived by
his mother Carolyn Ross, father Silas (Sherris) Foster, Soulmate Jasmine
Mickens, son Silas Ross Jr., daughter Zoe Ross, and son in love Amani
Mock, brother Brandon Ross and sister Jasmin Ross, aunts Deborah
Ross, Charlene Ross, Stephanie Ross, Tujuana Ross, Valeria Gibbs, and
adored nieces Brianna Ross and Kali Ross, devoted friends Cartier
(Raye) Young, Keith (Deidra) Perry, Victor (Crystal) Davidson, Cherelle
Blakely, Jeremy Graham, Twon Townsend , Vonte Kendrick, Justin
Rhedrick-Nelson, Quinton Brown, Leah Poole, Kadeem Young-Kelly
and many more.
Silas graduated from Carver High School in 2006. He went to NC
A&T to further his education and graduated with a bachelor's degree in
Architectural Engineering in 2010. Silas served in the United States
Army National Guard in the 875th Engineering company with pride.
Silas went on to pursue a Master's degree in Construction Management
from Western Carolina in 2014. Silas gained experience working with
architectural and construction companies (DPR located in Raleigh NC,
Kiewit in Kansas City, and Balfour Beatty in Greensboro NC). Silas
created a mentorship program called K.E.Y.S Outreach with Jeremy
Graham and Asada Harris, and also partnered with Victor Davidson with
D&R construction. Silas was a proud alumni of NC A&T and gave back
as a mentor to students in the engineering program. Silas was a volunteer
as a Big Brother to help young men to better themselves. Silas was such
a stylish gentleman and assisted with the launch of a clothing line with
his best friend Cartier Young.
Silas took great pride in being a father and provider to Silas Jr.
and Zoe and to the love of his life Jasmine. Silas loved to be with family
and friends and especially enjoyed NC A& T homecoming events. Silas
will truly be missed by everyone that knew and loved him!
A public viewing will take place Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 2pm until 5pm at Douthit's.
A private funeral will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Arrangements are in care of Douthit Funeral Services.
