Tanya Jeanette Norman Martin

April 12, 1964 - March 8, 2024

Tanya Jeanette Norman Martin, 59, of Ellerbe Ave, Winston-Salem, NC, passed Friday, March 8, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 12, 1964, the youngest of five children born to her parents, Author and Mildred Wade Norman, who both preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three brothers: Anthony "Jerry" Norman Sr., Willie Curtis Norman and Dewayne Norman.
Tanya was a member of Inheritors Ministries, Martinsville, VA. Prior to her illness, she was a long-time employee of American Express.
Tanya received her early education in the Henry County Public Schools in Virginia. She was a 1982 graduate of Bassett High School where she was a member of the Girls' Basketball team, Band, and the Varsity Cheerleading squad. She sang in her church choir and was also a member of the Junior Choir, Concert Choir, All County and Regional Chorus. She participated in talent shows; enjoyed dancing and playing the piano.
Throughout her life she enjoyed laughing, listening to music, dancing, shopping, traveling, and eating her favorite foods.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 41 years, James O. Martin; their three children: Latoya (Joseph) Ainsworth, Jessica A. Martin, and James C. Martin; two granddaughters, Jamie and Chloe; and, a brother, Christopher Norman. She also leaves brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Inheritors Ministries, 230 Grassy Creek Road, Martinsville, Virginia, with Elder David O. Martin, officiating. A repass for family will follow on Saturday in the Inheritors Ministries Fellowship Center. Family will receive friends Friday March 15, 2024 from 11:00am until 12pm at Douthit's. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services
