Mr. Thomas Daniel Benton "Tommy", son of the late Leroy Benton, Sr. and the late Jessie Mae Joseph Benton was born on August 26, 1942, in Florence, South Carolina. On Saturday, November 5, 2022, God in his Divine Love and Wisdom called his son, "Tommy" from labor to reward.

Thomas attended Darlington County Public school systems. He graduated from Mayo High School. He made a career as a plumber for more than 40 years. Thomas enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends

Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Jean Covington Benton; sister Ms. Carrie Benton Brock and brother Mr. James Walter Benton, Sr.; father, Mr. Leroy Benton Sr. and mother, Jessie Mae Joseph Benton. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter Ms. Beverly Elaine Robinson of Florence, SC; two brothers, Mr. Lessie Joseph (Byrdie Mae) of Darlington, SC and Mr. Leroy Benton (Fosteen) of Winston-Salem, NC. Grandchildren Jessica LaNette McElveen-Filmore of Columbia, SC and Christian Frank DeVaughn McElveen of Florence, SC; great grandchildren Destiny McElveen-Simmons (Dajshon) of Augusta, GA and Diamond Fillmore of Columbia, SC and Kaleeb Jordan of Florence, SC; great-great grandchild Kingston Simmons of Augusta, GA. Two special men in Thomas life: Mr. Kenneth A. Dixon of Winston-Salem, NC and Timothy Devon Dixon, Sr. (Cassondra Dixon) of Fayetteville, N A memorial service will be held Thursday November 17, 2022, at 12pm from Douthit's. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are int the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
