Wheeler McQuinn Jones better known to many as Mac, was born July 6, 1933 the oldest son of Russell & Mamie Puryear Jones of Kernersville, NC. He peacefully departed this life at the age of 89 on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at his home in Walkertown, NC. Wheeler was a retiree of R.J. Reynolds after 28 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and one grandson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley, 4 daughters: Carolyn Hairston and Sharon France both of Winston-Salem, Tammy (Darryl) Cherry of Walkertown, Arnita (Lee) Sturdivant of Winston-Salem; 3 sons: Wheeler Jones Jr. of Winston Salem, Christopher Jones and Timothy (Danielle) Jones of Walkertown; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great grands. One sister-in-law, Mary Jones of Walkertown, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Douthit's Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Douthit's. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
