William Cundiff, a beloved character known for his wild white hair and unfiltered candor, left us on June 11, 2024. Born on December 1, 1939, he grew up in Winston-Salem, attending Forsyth County schools before a brief stint in the Navy.
William made his mark as a maintenance manager at Wake Forest University, where he was known for his dedication and hard work.
Outside of work, he had a passion for motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons, and a fondness for Ford trucks, Cadillacs, and Corvettes.
A man of vibrant spirit, William was a familiar face at St. John CME Church when he was able to attend. Despite his gruff exterior, he had a heart of gold. He was a devoted family man, always ready to lend support, and had a soft spot for stray animals, particularly a cat he affectionately named Meow.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Julius and Georgianna Cundiff, and his siblings, Margaret, Ella, Geraldine, Doris, Joan, Frank, Hubert, Issac, George, and Thomas.
He leaves behind his children, William Cundiff Jr. and Georgia Evette Cundiff; his grandson, Cederick Earl Cundiff; and his great-grandchildren, Cedric Cundiff, Jeremiah Earl Cundiff, and Raelynn Cundiff. Additionally, he is survived by his daughter, Soprena Mitchell, and granddaughter, Janelle Collins. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
William's legacy is one of authenticity, warmth, and an undeniable zest for life. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Tuesday June 18, 2024, at 12pm from Douthit's. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
