Mr. William Debnam
Affectionately known by many as Bill; he was a proud, Christian man who loved God, his family and community. He was a graduate of Carver High School and also attended NC A&T State University.
Bill Debnam was a faithful and devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as deacon and former cathedral choir member, Sunday school Superintendent, The Men's Council, Vice President of the Rowan Baptist Association, Forsyth County Sunday School Union and Forsyth County Deacon's Union. Until his health surrendered his ability to serve, his dedication was limitless. He worked for AT&T in the photo lab until he retired. He was no stranger to his community; all who met him appreciated his kindness and generosity. He was born in Clemmons, NC on October 22, 1934, to William S. Debnam and Ruth Hairston. He passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Bill married and is survived by Mary E. Anthony Debnam for 62 years.
He is also survived by two daughters Robin Warren (Thomas) of Greensboro, NC, and Rhonda Debnam of Durham, NC, daughter-in-law Wanda Debnam of Easley, SC, four grandchildren, Erin Leigh Debnam, Torrian Warren (Erin), Bre'anna Warren and Erika Debnam, sisters-in-law Juanita Tatum (Eugene) and Drucilla Pittman (Milton), four greatgrandchildren, Malachi Debnam, Alyssa Debnam, Parker Ryann, and Nylah Warren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Aaron Debnam, half-sister Ida Seaborn, half-brother Edward Debnam, brother-in-law Clarence C. Anthony (Dora), brother-in-law Edward L. Anthony (Evelyn).
A heartfelt thank you to the patient care team at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist physicians and nurses for the care and compassion they provided during his extended illness and to friends, family, church family and the community who have prayed, visited, called, sent flowers and cards, etc. We are forever grateful. A public viewing will be held Tuesday July 19, 2022, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday July 20, 2022, at 11:00am from Friendship Baptist Church and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 10:30am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
