William Henry (Bud) Jones was born to the late Alphonso and Mary Alice Jones on July 21, 1947, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools and was graduate of Atkins High School. He also obtained a business degree from Forsyth Tech Community College.
Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1973. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged. He was employed at Western Electric (AT&T) for 30 years.
Bud settled into a leisurely retired life and became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He was a prayer warrior and a dedicated member of the Male chorus and security team, a member and worker of the food pantry, and a Trustee. Whatever was needed he would do it. He was a Post 220 member in good standing and truly a God-fearing man. He will be missed by all. Bud enjoyed his annual Memorial Day cookout and family gatherings around holidays.
Bud was one of seven children. He was proceeded in death by his wife Irma Jones; his parents Alphonso Jones and Mary Alice Jones; two beloved sisters, Barbara Jones Cook and Angela LaVon Jones; and Pearline Smart Jones, his former wife and mother of his daughter. He leaves not to mourn but to cherish the memories a daughter Michelle Jones; three brothers, Alphonso (Elise) Jones of the city; Andrew (Anna) Jones of Raleigh, N.C.; and Darryl (Yvette) Jones of Charleston, SC.; and a devoted sister, Vickie Jones (Norman, deceased), of the city. He also leaves a stepdaughter Charlotte Johnson and a brother-in-law Charles Cook, both of the city. A devoted niece Deborah (Greg) Moore, a host of nieces and nephews, and three brothers in Christ Deacon Albert Penn Sr., Trustee Ernest Smith, and Trustee William Penn Sr.
Memorial service will be Saturday February 25, 2023, at 9:00am from Mount Carmel Baptist Church 3230 Heitman Drive. Military rite will be at 11:00am in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Service.
