Obituary

Mr. Willie Edward Smith aka Pee Wee, age 74, of Winston Salem, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July ----, 2021, at Trellis Hospice Care. He was born April 7th, 1947, in Forsyth County, the son of the late Edward Harper and Edith S. Miller Key. Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Smith; brothers James A. Jackson and John Miller Jr.. Step father John Miller Sr. Willie is survived by two children Dennis Smith & Tonja Howell Wilson. Sisters Stella Miller Stover, Ann Harper, Helen Little, Arlean (Benny) Patterson. Brother James Thorne all of Winston Salem. He has three granddaughters and one grandson; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. Willie was educated in the Winston Salem Forsyth County School system and was a fateful employee of Winston Salem State University. Willie was a lover of LIFE and fashion and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. He was funny, outgoing and always ready to make you laugh. We will always remember his infectious smile and caring personality. His presence in our lives will be sorely missed. When you think of Pee Wee, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. A memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Douthit's. There will be no public viewing Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
